The National Democratic Congress (NDC) opens nominations for its 2026 constituency executive elections on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, marking an important stage in the party’s internal electoral process. The party announced the schedule in a statement issued on Thursday, September 10, signed by Deputy General Secretary Barbara Serwaa Asamoah on behalf of the General Secretary.
Nomination Schedule, Dues Requirements, and Online Portal Payments
The party will close the nomination window for constituency executive elections on Thursday, September 17, 2026, with the filing of nominations taking place from September 23 to September 24, 2026. The vetting of candidates would take place between September 25 and September 27, 2026; the appeals committee would sit from September 29, 2026, to October 1, 2026, and the constituency elections would take place between October 24 and October 25, 2026.
A statement issued in Accra and signed by Deputy General Secretary Barbara Serwaa Asamoah encouraged members seeking the various constituency executive positions to participate within the prescribed period. All members who intend to contest for the various constituency executive positions are encouraged to take full advantage of the process within the prescribed period,
the statement said. Aspirants, proposers, seconders and endorsers must be members in good standing and have fully paid their membership dues for the past four years. It asked members with outstanding dues to settle their arrears through 92025# or the party’s website, as well as the party’s designated payment channels. The party further directed that all payments for the purchase and filing of nomination forms must be made exclusively through its online portal, forms.ghanandc.com, using mobile money across all networks.
Campaigning Rules and Parliamentary Aspirant Restrictions
The statement said the notice also formally opens campaigning for aspirants contesting the party’s 2026 internal elections at the constituency, regional and national levels. It urged aspirants to conduct their campaigns in accordance with the party’s rules, regulations and directives. Party officials from Regional Officers and Constituency Officers to Ward Coordinators are directed to allow campaign activities by all aspirants within their respective jurisdictions,
it stated.
The party, however, said the campaign window does not apply to persons pursuing or intending to pursue parliamentary ambitions. This includes sitting Members of Parliament and persons who have expressed an intention to contest parliamentary elections, or persons considering or expressing an intention to contest parliamentary elections. Such persons should not engage in campaigning activities under this window. Any infraction of this directive would be dealt with in accordance with the party’s rules and regulations.
Early Interest and Nominations in Akatsi South
A total of 55 persons have picked nomination forms to contest various executive positions in the Akatsi South Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). The aspirants are seeking positions including Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Organiser, Women’s Organiser, Youth Organiser, Deputy Organiser and Deputy Secretary, among other constituency executive positions. Two persons, Anthony Solo Adotevi and Anthony Kojo Owusu, picked forms to contest the chairmanship position. Mensah Prince, Agbavor Lord Percivals and Ackuaku Edem picked forms to contest the position of Vice Chairman. The list also included aspirants for the other executive positions, bringing the total number of persons who picked forms to 55 at the close of the exercise.
Mr Obed Agbozo, Constituency Election Director of the NDC in Akatsi South, issued the list at the close of the nomination form-picking exercise. Under the NDC’s 2026 election timetable, aspirants are expected to complete their nomination forms within seven days and file them on Wednesday, September 23 and Thursday, September 24. The filing exercise would be followed by vetting from Friday, September 25 to Sunday, September 27, while appeals would be heard from Tuesday, September 29 to Thursday, October 1, 2026. The constituency executive elections are scheduled for Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25, 2026, according to the party’s timetable. The NDC has urged constituency executives, aspirants and members to adhere to the stipulated timelines and procedures to ensure an orderly electoral process.
