Nebraska Volleyball Poised for NCAA Regional Final Showdown Against Texas A&M

Nebraska’s dominant volleyball program will host the NCAA Regional Final for the third consecutive year, facing off against No. 6 Texas A&M on Sunday at 2 p.m. CST, broadcast nationally on ABC. The top-ranked Huskers enter the match with an unblemished 33-0 record, continuing a season of unprecedented success.

Unblemished Season and Historic Win Streaks

The 2025 Nebraska volleyball team has achieved a level of dominance rarely seen in collegiate athletics. Finishing the regular season undefeated for the third time in program history – joining the 1994 and 2000 teams – the Huskers have dropped a mere seven sets all year, and only one in Big Ten conference play. Their current 33-game win streak stands as the second-longest in the program’s NCAA era, showcasing a consistent level of excellence.

Adding to their impressive run, Nebraska boasts a nation-leading 63-match home court win streak, tied for the second-longest in program history. Within the Bob Devaney Sports Center, the team has secured 29 consecutive NCAA Tournament victories, establishing a new school record.

Big Ten Dominance and Coaching Acclaim

Nebraska’s success extends beyond non-conference play, as evidenced by their third consecutive Big Ten title, achieved with a perfect 20-0 record. This marks the program’s first undefeated conference season since 2004, when competing in the Big 12. In total, the Huskers have amassed 37 conference titles throughout their history, including six within the Big Ten (2011, 2016, 2017, 2023, 2024, and 2025).

The team’s recent three-peat in conference championships is a feat not accomplished since 2004-2008. Head coach Dani Busboom Kelly made history this season, becoming the first volleyball coach in Big Ten history to secure a conference title in her inaugural year. John Cook previously achieved the same milestone in his first year within the conference in 2011, though it was his 12th season overall leading the Nebraska program.

Statistical Superiority and National Rankings

Nebraska’s performance isn’t solely based on wins; the team’s statistical profile is equally impressive. The Huskers have hit over .400 in nine matches this season, a new school record in the rally-scoring era. They are a remarkable 95-0 in sets this season when reaching the “red zone” – scoring 20 points first.

Currently, Nebraska ranks first nationally in several key categories: hitting percentage (.355), and opponent hitting percentage (.121). The gap between their hitting percentage and that of their opponents (.234) is significantly larger than any other team in the nation, with American (.149), Pittsburgh (.145), and Wisconsin (.144) trailing far behind.

Further highlighting their all-around strength, the Huskers are fourth in kills per set (14.69), seventh in assists per set (13.47), and 16th in blocks per set (2.74).

Recent Performance and Momentum

The Huskers’ October was nothing short of perfect, going 24-0 in sets played during the month, with opponents exceeding 20 points in only two sets – at Purdue (23 in set one) and at Michigan State (20 in set three). A dominant stretch from late September through mid-November saw Nebraska sweep 15 consecutive matches and win 48 sets in a row, echoing the success of the 2007 team which swept 17 straight and won 53 consecutive sets.

Over the past five seasons (2021-2025), Coach Busboom Kelly has compiled a 153-15 record, achieving a .911 winning percentage – the best among all Division I head coaches during that span. Nebraska has also proven its ability to handle top competition, posting a 13-0 record against ranked opponents this season, just one victory shy of the program record of 14 set in 1998.

Nebraska appears poised to continue its remarkable season as they prepare to face Texas A&M in front of a home crowd. .
