President Ramnath Govind, Arjuna and Dronacharya presented the Major Dayan Chand Khel Ratna to 12 people, including gold medalist Neeraj Chopra at the Tokyo Olympics.
The awards ceremony for the best in the field of sports was held at the Presidential Palace in Delhi. President Ramnath Govind presented the Major Dayan Chand Khel Ratna Award to 12 persons and the Arjuna Award to 35 persons at the event.

The President also presented the Major Dayan Chand Gale Ratna Award to Avani Lekara, who won gold and bronze in both the categories of sniper at the Paralympic Games.
President Ramnath Govind and Major Dayan Chand presented the Gale Ratna to Indian women’s cricket team captain Mithali Raj.
Also, Major Dayan Chand Kale Ratna was presented to boxer Lovlina Borgohain, footballer Sunil Chhetri, wrestler Ravi Kumar, hockey players Sreejesh, Manpreet Singh and Paralympic javelin thrower Sumit Andil.
Also, Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan was given the Arjuna Award.
President Ramnath Govind also presented the Arjuna Award to wrestler Deepak Punia.
In addition, 16 players from the Indian hockey team, including 35 table tennis player Pavina Patel, were awarded the Arjuna Award.
Following this, the Dronacharya Award was presented to 10 people, including 5 coaches in the Lifetime Achievement category.
