The Armenian side continues to negotiate with Azerbaijan on the mirror withdrawal of troops, based on the 1974-1978. Soviet maps.
According to Sputnik Armenia, Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Armenia Armen Grigoryan told reporters after making a note of condolence in the mourning book opened at the Iranian Embassy in Armenia.
“Negotiations are ongoing and we hope that we will be able to achieve success in this direction,” said the Secretary of the Security Council, responding to the journalists’ observation that Azerbaijan had earlier said a categorical “no” to the offer of the Armenian side.
Grigoryan did not want to comment on the changes in the latest text presented by Armenia regarding the peace treaty, to which Azerbaijan responded positively. In particular, Azerbaijan noted that there is great progress, and the latest proposal differs from the previous ones, there are many points that are acceptable to them.
“We will talk about this in the future, when we have more clear progress on the peace agreement. Negotiations are ongoing in the sense that texts are being exchanged. Hopefully, there will be an opportunity for more substantive discussions soon, and as a result of them we will speak more clearly in public,” said Grigoryan.
Regarding the question of whether Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiations are expected in the near future, Grigoryan noted that Armenia has expressed its readiness, now they are waiting for the response of their partners.
