Negotiations on the lifting of the ban on the import of meat and meat products from the Republic of Armenia to the Russian Federation were held during the video conference of representatives of the RA Food Safety Inspection Authority and the Russian Federal Veterinary and Phytosanitary Control Service (Россельхознадзор). This is reported by the Food Safety Inspection Authority, reminding that in 2016, the import of Armenian meat products to Russia was stopped due to the outbreak of tan disease in cattle in Armenia.

The representatives of the Ministry of Health emphasized that in recent years the state has taken active actions and measures to combat this disease. laboratory facilities were developed and improved, modern high-quality vaccines were used, animal epidemic monitoring was conducted regularly.
Russian partners were also informed that in 2020 The package of the summary results of the performed works was sent to the discussion of the World Organization for Animal Health, proposing to consider the issue of giving Armenia the status of a tannin-free country.

As a result of the discussions, the parties decided that in the near future, the Armenian side will send the Russian partners information about the results of the fight against the dangerous disease, the list of tannery-free marzes-districts, as well as the list of companies that are planning to export meat products to the Russian Federation.

The constructive dialogue was highly appreciated by both sides and an agreement was reached to resume negotiations after providing the necessary documents to the Russian side.
