Kathmandu: At least 65 passengers are reported missing after two buses hit by a landslide were swept away in a swollen river in Nepal. According to news portal ‘MyRepublica’, two buses carrying 65 passengers were swept away in the swollen Trishuli river after being hit by a landslide on the Narayanghat-Mugling road in Simaltal area of Chitwan district. Chitwan Chief District Officer Indra Dev Yadav confirmed the accident.
Yadav said that rescue workers have started removing the debris of the landslide. He said that more information is awaited regarding the accident. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has expressed grief over the incident of two buses flowing in the Trishuli river and has issued instructions for search and rescue operation on war footing. It is being told that this incident happened at 3:30 in the morning. It is raining heavily in this entire area. Meanwhile, all flights from Kathmandu to Bharatpur have been cancelled. At least 62 people have died so far in Nepal amid monsoon rains. At the same time, 90 people have been injured.
