Nepali mountaineer dies on Everest; As the corpse sits

Kathmandu: A Nepali mountaineer who has climbed Mount Everest several times has died on Mount Everest, according to expedition organizers. The deceased was identified as Engimi Tenji Sherpa, 38. Sherpa was found dead on Thursday morning near an area known as the ‘football field’ in Kumbu.

Sherpa was transporting equipment to Camp 2. His body was found sitting. He was wearing a backpack. The body was brought down, said Pasang Sering Sherpa of Beul Adventures, a local partner of US-based exploration company International Mountain Guides.

He added that there were no other accidents and that the initial medical examination revealed that the cause of death was shortness of breath caused by reaching an altitude above sea level. On Tuesday, Greek mountaineer Antonios Sikaris, 59, was killed while descending Mount Everest.
