Netflix Renewable: Measure global viewing hours in each series

by time news

After many reactions from viewers from all over the world, today (Wednesday) the streaming giant Netflix announced a change in the method of measuring popular titles on the service, including in Israel, with the index now based on the total number of hours viewed in each title and not as before. In addition, the company announced a number of additional changes to its services.

Netflix will publish the list of the “Top 10 on Netflix” every Tuesday, based on the viewing hours of the past week. The content will be divided into four lists according to different categories: the top 10 lists in the world for English films, non-English films, English series and non-English series. In addition, the popular rankings of more than 90 countries will be published, including in Israel.

The streaming company admits that it is difficult to accurately measure the success of any content in the best way, and there is no one perfect measure. Traditional metrics like box office or audience share, designed to help advertisers understand TV success, are irrelevant to Netflix. This is the main reason why it was decided to measure popularity by viewing hours, while in addition, viewing hours reflect whether people saw the content in its entirety, or were broken in the middle.

So what is the most popular content in Israel in the last week? The Israeli star’s new film, Gal Gadot, “Red Message”, walks in the lead, with the trio closed by the films “Dead to Love” and “Army of Thieves”.
