Nevada City Appoints Carrie J. Wright as New City Manager
Nevada City has announced the appointment of Carrie J. Wright as its new City Manager, effective March 1st, following a comprehensive recruitment process.
The city of Nevada City is gaining a seasoned leader with over two decades of experience in public service, local government, and organizational leadership. Wright’s expertise encompasses municipal operations, economic development, housing, and community engagement, with a demonstrated commitment to fostering thriving local economies and responsive public services.
Moast recently, wright held a senior leadership position with a Sacramento-based consulting firm, where she collaborated with public agencies and community organizations throughout California. In this role, she focused on building regional collaboration and ensuring communities are well-prepared for future challenges.
Throughout her career, Wright has held key positions with the City of Stockton, UC davis, and Cal Expo. These roles provided her with extensive experience in economic development,venue operations,public-private partnerships,and revenue generation,allowing her to effectively balance economic vitality with the needs of the community and support local businesses.
Wright, along with her husband Greg and their two sons, Max and Sam, are eager to become active members of the Nevada City community. The family has a long history of exploring Northern California’s small towns, historical sites, and outdoor destinations, and they enjoy gardening and spending time together.
“I am honored by the opportunity to serve Nevada City as City Manager,” Wright stated. “This is a community with a deep sense of history and connection, and I see my role as a steward-supporting the great work already underway, listening closely, and helping the City thoughtfully prepare for the future while caring for what makes Nevada City special.”
