Nevada Volunteers Deploy to Washington State Amidst Historic Flooding

As many as 100,000 Washington state residents have been ordered to evacuate due to catastrophic flooding in the Pacific Northwest, prompting a rapid response from disaster relief organizations across the country. On Saturday, the American Red Cross of Southern Nevada announced the deployment of four experienced volunteers to the affected region, set to arrive on Sunday to assist with critical aid efforts.
Urgent Need for Disaster Relief
The scale of the flooding is significant, with rivers reaching historic highs and forcing the temporary evacuation of entire cities. Governor Bob Ferguson has indicated the potential need to evacuate up to 100,000 people, highlighting the severity of the situation. Volunteers from Southern Nevada Answer the Call
The four volunteers dispatched from Southern Nevada bring a wealth of experience to the relief operation. Sherriel Weithers and Rockee Nelson are residents of Henderson, while Patrick Moore and Linda Gong call Las Vegas home. According to the Red Cross, each volunteer has a proven track record of providing disaster relief across the United States.
These individuals are also specifically trained as Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) drivers. This specialized training will allow them to “provide emergency shelter, food and critical aid to those affected by the catastrophic flooding,” as stated by a Red Cross spokesperson.
