Nevena Zartova has resigned as administrative head of the Sofia District Prosecutor’s Office.
Zartova did not want to state the reasons for her action, stating that her reasons were set out in the application she submitted.
Earlier today, her four deputies – Borislav Georgiev, Ivan Stefanov, Mima Kutzkolva – Damyanova and Todor Kuyundzhiev – also resigned. In their declaration to the prosecutor’s collegium of the SJC, they state that they categorically dissociate themselves from the actions of the head of the Sofia District Prosecutor’s Office, Nevena Zartova, and fully support the efforts of I.F. chief prosecutor Borislav Sarafov for reforms in the prosecutor’s office.
In an interview with “24 Chasa”, Anastasios Dikos, representative in Bulgaria of investor John Koustas, stated that lawyer Velimir Atanasov had an emotional relationship with Nevena Zartova. On his part, Velimir Atanasov had close relations with Martin Bojanov-Notary.
“They charged me, Prof. Kalamaris and the architect with fraud on a particularly large scale. We were banned from leaving the country. BGN 100,000 bail for me, BGN 50,000 bail for Prof. Kalamaris and BGN 100,000 bail for the architect . Of course, the report about this fraud comes from Velimir Atanasov. The case is being conducted in the district prosecutor’s office, which is headed by Zartova, who is in a love relationship with Velimir Atanasov, as he himself claims. We appealed the ruling, because every criminal lawyer, with whom we spoke, told us that this is complete absurdity – fraud on a particularly large scale is not within the competence of the district prosecutor’s office, but of the city. They simply control the district prosecutor’s office,” Dikos told “24 Chasa”.
