A new circular containing instructions to government agencies and departments to take steps to use electricity and fuel sparingly will be issued.
A circular to this effect will be issued today (21), said JJ Ratnasiri, Secretary, Ministry of Public Services, Provincial Councils and Local Government.
He said government agencies have been advised to minimize the use of air conditioners and unwanted electric lights.
He also advised not to use fuel for non-essential trips.
Meanwhile, the secretary of the ministry has instructed the heads of the institutions to restrict the invitation of the leaders in government vehicles to the special conferences and discussions to be held in Colombo.
