Library Volunteers Refresh Collection for Winter Readers in Haute-Marne

A significant influx of new reading material is now available to patrons thanks to the dedication of local library volunteers and a collaborative exchange with the Haute-Marne Departmental Media Library (MDHM). The recent efforts ensure residents have ample options for entertainment and enrichment during the colder months.

A team of three volunteers – Marie-José, Michèle, and Yvonne – spent Friday, December 12, preparing a collection of books for transfer to the MDHM. On Monday, December 15, the volunteers traveled to Chaumont to complete an exchange of approximately 500 books.

Expanding Access to Literature

The newly selected titles, delivered by an MDHM employee the same afternoon, represent a diverse range of genres and formats. Patrons can now access new releases encompassing a wide spectrum of interests, including classic novels, detective stories, science fiction, comics, documentaries, local works, magazines, and large print books. These materials are available for both on-site consultation and loan.

“This exchange is vital for ensuring our community has access to the latest and most engaging literature,” stated a library representative. “We strive to cater to all ages and reading preferences.”

Holiday Closure and Reopening

The library will observe its annual holiday closure from Monday, December 22, through Tuesday, January 6, inclusive. Regular operations are scheduled to resume on Wednesday, January 7. Patrons are encouraged to take advantage of the expanded collection before the closure or to plan their visits for the new year.

The library’s commitment to providing a rich literary experience underscores its importance as a community hub, particularly during the extended winter season.
