This Week’s Hot New Spots

agosto & Baby Sister: Celebrated chef George Mendes, whose former New York City restaurant Aldea earned a Michelin star, is bringing two distinct concepts to boston’s South End. Agosto will offer an intimate tasting menu blending Mendes’ Portuguese heritage with his culinary experiences in New York, France, and Spain, as reported by Boston magazine. Alongside it, Baby Sister will be a bakery-cafe serving artisanal bread, breakfast sandwiches, and Portugal’s beloved Pastéis de nata. Agosto is scheduled to open in Summer 2026, with Baby Sister following in late 2026. The restaurants will be located at 1673 and 1679 Washington St.

Bonanza bites & Cocktails: The space formerly occupied by Cornerstone on Beacon Street in Somerville has been reimagined as Bonanza bites & Cocktails, a vibrant tapas and cocktail bar. The menu showcases Latin American flavors with enticing bites like birria empanadas and sweet plantain gnocchi,complemented by a cocktail list ranging from spirit-forward to refreshingly sweet and sour. The bar is currently open as of December 2025, located at 282 Beacon St.

Caffe ducali Expansion: A popular North End espresso bar, Caffe Ducali, is expanding its reach with a second location in Winchester. Part of the Filmark Hospitality Group – which also includes Ristorante Lucia, Cunard Tavern, and Ducali Pizzeria – the cafe is known for its hot and iced espresso drinks, pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and roman-style pizza al taglio. the new location is slated to open in March 2026 at 959 Main St.

Julianne’s Kitchen & Bar: The Milton Marketplace is gaining a new all-day restaurant on its second floor, replacing The Plate. Julianne’s Kitchen & Bar will serve “elevated comfort classics made with locally sourced ingredients,” according to the Patriot Ledger. The restaurant is a project from the team behind Milton’s Novara and Abby Park, and is named in honor of Julianne M. Foley, a longtime Milton Marketplace employee who passed away in October. The opening is anticipated in early 2026 at 10 Bassett St.

Bonus: Wusong Road Holiday Pop-Up: For a festive experience, harvard Square’s Wusong Road tiki bar has transformed into Wusong Wonderland for the month of December.The pop-up features holiday decorations and seasonal food and drink specials, including beef brisket lo mein, boba tiramisu, and cocktails like the Mai Tai-ny Tim and a cozy rye and bourbon last Christmas. The event runs throughout December at 112 Mt. Auburn St., Cambridge.
