5 and a half years after the current generation of Subaru Forester was launched in Israel, the importer’s symbol announces the start of the marketing of the sixth generation of the model, when for the first time the model is first launched in the world together with the American market. At the same time, although the importer claims an increase of only 3,000 shekels in the price of the model compared to the outgoing model, which is true when comparing the new versions with the new name, to the corresponding models of the outgoing generation, it is hard not to be disappointed that the entry price for the model has increased by 26,000 shekels and currently starts at 205,000 Shekel, due to the lack of base models for the model. How much will this affect the sales of the model that has so far enjoyed good demand in Israel? time will tell.
The new Forester lands in Israel only 3 months after it was revealed at the global unveiling in Los Angeles, when it is basically based on the familiar chassis and mechanical assemblies of the outgoing generation, and even maintains the familiar design lines of the model, but still gains a new and nicer-looking front, cosmetic updates different on the sides of the vehicle, wheel rims with a new design (“17-“19 depending on the finish level) and a renewed design for the rear part of the car. The dimensions grow easily with a body length of 4.65 meters (+1 cm), width of 1.83 (+2 cm), height of 1.73 meters (unchanged) and a wheelbase that remains unchanged and stretches to 267 cm. The interior space is About 22 cm and the volume of the trunk is 779 liters, but according to the American standard the volume is measured up to the ceiling of the vehicle and not up to the window line.
Subaru also promises a number of aerodynamic updates that improve performance and stability, with unique openings installed behind the front wheels that allow air to exit more easily, and contribute to reducing the drag coefficient and improved stability when driving.
The passenger cabin has been updated and includes a prominent touch screen with a standard size of 11.6, a dark ceiling covering designed to hide scratches that may be caused by the loading or unloading of passengers and/or cargo, and the beams of the car have also been designed to ensure as large windows as possible for optimal outward visibility. Windshields were installed in the back Dark as standard.
The chassis of the new model presents 10% higher torsional rigidity thanks to the use of improved welding and gluing techniques that also contribute to weight savings. This feature provides improved road handling along with a smoother ride and better noise isolation according to the manufacturer. The original Eyesight safety system has also been updated in its fourth generation and includes, as standard, distance keeping warning with autonomous braking, lane departure correction, adaptive cruise control with a crawling mechanism in traffic jams, replacement of OT lights, driver fatigue warning, blind spot warning in the side mirrors, rear cross traffic warning With reverse braking, 9 airbags and more. The X-MODE off-road system has also been updated and includes an extended package starting with the second trim level.
The new Forester will be marketed with the same familiar power unit, which includes a 2.5-liter gasoline engine that produces 180 hp and 24.6 kgm, mated to a continuous automatic transmission with 8 gears and dual drive as standard. The acceleration to 100 km/h is 9.4 seconds and the maximum speed is 204 km/h, and the fuel consumption is 12.5 km per liter on average according to the manufacturer’s data.
The model will be marketed in four levels of finish to choose from, when from the “Premium” entry version the car includes upgraded equipment with light 17″ wheel rims, the X-MODE system for off-road, a rear parking camera including dynamic guide bars, heated front seats, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, a steering wheel With heating and leather coating, gearshift levers, electric parking brake, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, wireless mobile charging pad, four USB sockets in the vehicle compartment, daytime running lights and main lighting in LED technology, turn-following headlights, split digital climate control in 2 zones including hatches Rear air conditioning, keyless entry and drive, electric trunk door and more.
The price of the Subaru Forester is growing significantly and will start at NIS 205,900 for the entry version and reach up to NIS 249,900 for the top trim level.
