The European Parliament will discuss a resolution on visa liberalization with Armenia next week.
In a conversation with the correspondent of “Armenpress” in Brussels, the German member of the European Parliament, Viola Von Kramon, stated this.
He informed that the resolution will be discussed next week during the plenary session of the European Parliament.
“With the resolution, we are putting forward a real visa action program, we will push forward the agenda of closer institutional and other ties with Armenia, so that the residents of Armenia feel that they are welcomed. We would really like to see Armenia a part of the European Union at some point. So, if we at least move forward with the program of visas or liberalization actions, this will be something tangible for people, as well as in terms of trade and liberalization of our markets,” said the member of the European Parliament.
To the question of whether there are any obstacles for the European Union to start a dialogue with Armenia on visa liberalization, the deputy answered that it is not the European Parliament that can block or has blocked this process so far. He detailed that this problem has always existed in the European Council.
Viola Von Kramon said that Armenian diplomats should do some work on this issue with some EU member states, without clarifying which countries in particular.
He noted that some EU member states have deep-rooted concerns regarding visa liberalization with Armenia.
