Schmaltz’s Hat Trick Propels Utah Mammoth to Victory, NHL Action Heats Up

A dominant performance by Nick Schmaltz, highlighted by his second career hat trick, powered the Utah Mammoth to a 6-3 win over the San Jose Sharks on Friday night in Salt Lake City. The victory marks the Mammoth’s second consecutive win as the NHL season progresses.

Mammoth Dominate Sharks in Utah

Schmaltz ignited the offense early, scoring twice in the first period before completing his hat trick just 54 seconds into the third with a speedy first-time shot, extending the Mammoth’s lead to 4-2. The Delta Center erupted as fans celebrated with a shower of hats onto the ice.

Canucks Extend Dominance Over Blackhawks in Shootout

The Vancouver Canucks continued their mastery over the Chicago Blackhawks, securing a 3-2 shootout victory and extending their winning streak against Chicago to 11 games.Brock Boeser scored the decisive goal in the four-round shootout.

Jake DeBrusk and Max Sasson scored in regulation for the Canucks,who have overcome 2-0 deficits in both games of their current five-game road trip. Goaltender Kevin Lankinen was outstanding, making 31 saves and stopping all four Blackhawks skaters in the shootout.

The Blackhawks, who had their two-game winning streak snapped, saw goals from Ryan Donato and Tyler Bertuzzi. Spencer Knight stopped 30 shots before the shootout.
