Aldis stated. He added that the appointment was not a case of being medically uncleared or needing time to heal.
Medical Evaluation And Back Pain Details
While discussing his physical condition, Aldis acknowledged that he had experienced lower back issues that forced him to withdraw from a few independent matches prior to his WWE tenure. He recalled an instance where he had to pull out of a planned return match against Alex Shelley on the independent circuit—which he believed took place in Chicago or Detroit—marking the first time outside of a legitimate injury and surgery that he had to cancel due to back pain.
After getting the condition checked, a specialist at Vanderbilt identified that the discomfort felt like a bulging or herniated disc due to massive inflammation in a thin sheet of muscle sitting behind the spinal erectus. Aldis noted that a recent medical checkup at the Orlando Magic Facility confirmed his spine is in order, describing it as having the spine of a 39-year-old wrestler.
Specific anti-inflammatories cleared up the issue, which had bothered him for roughly two years. He candidly referred to himself as a stubborn idiot
for trying to push through the pain with a back brace rather than seeking proper diagnosis earlier.

While his background includes holding both the TNA world title and NWA world title, Aldis has not wrestled a match since signing with WWE. However, his status as SmackDown general manager has recently shifted following a backstage altercation with Gunther after Night of Champions.
