Texans Star Receiver Nico Collins Exits Monday Night Football with Concussion
The Houston texans suffered a significant blow during their “Monday Night Football” matchup against the Chicago Bears, as star wide receiver Nico Collins left the game in the fourth quarter with a concussion. Initially listed as questionable too return, Collins subsequently headed to the locker room, casting doubt on his availability for the remainder of the contest.
The injury occurred during a contested catch attempt against Bears cornerback Josh Jobe. According to reports, Collins went up for the ball, but Jobe was able to break up the pass. In the process,Collins’ head snapped back and impacted the turf, prompting immediate attention from the team’s medical staff.
Collins, 26, has emerged as a pivotal offensive weapon for the Texans. His breakout 2023 season saw him record 80 receptions for 1,297 yards and eight touchdowns. Despite missing time with a hamstring injury in 2024, he still managed 68 catches for 1,006 yards and seven touchdowns, earning his first Pro Bowl selection. while his 2025 campaign began slowly, Collins had recently found his stride, scoring a touchdown in three of his previous four games.
The Texans have heavily relied on Collins this season, especially with Christian Kirk sidelined due to injury. Xavier hutchinson has seen an increased role in Kirk’s absence, and rookies Jaylin noel and Jayden Higgins would likely see expanded playing time should Collins be forced to miss an extended period.
At the time of Collins’ injury, the Texans were trailing 27-12. Their lone touchdown of the game came courtesy of a strip-sack by Will Anderson Jr. of Bears quarterback Sam Darnold, with Anderson recovering the fumble in the end zone.
The loss of Collins represents a major setback for Houston’s offense, which was already struggling to find consistency. His absence will undoubtedly test the depth and resilience of the receiving corps as the team navigates the remainder of the season.
