Wrestle Kingdom 20 Set to Deliver Major Moments for New Japan Pro Wrestling

New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) fans are poised for a stunning event as Wrestle Kingdom 20 approaches, slated to air live during the night of Saturday, January 6th, transitioning into Sunday, January 7th, at 2 a.m. Eastern Time (Quebec time). The highly anticipated event will emanate from the sold-out Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan, and will be available for streaming on the NJPW World website.

A Night of Championship Clashes and Historic Farewells

Wrestle Kingdom 20 promises a night filled with championship clashes, intense rivalries, and a poignant farewell to a wrestling legend. The main event will see Hiroshi Tanahashi, a cornerstone of NJPW for decades, compete in his retirement match against Kazuchika Okada. This clash represents a passing of the torch moment for NJPW, pitting a legend against a modern-day star.

The event will also showcase several championship defenses.Konosuke Takeshita, the current World Champion, will defend his title against Yota Tsuji, while EVIL, the Never Openweight Champion, will battle Aaron Wolf. In the women’s division, Syuri, the World Champion, is set to compete against Saya Kamitani, the Strong Champion, in a cross-promotional showdown.

Contendership and Tag Team Action

Beyond the championships, Wrestle Kingdom 20 will determine the next challenger for the junior heavyweight title in a four-way match featuring El Desperado, Kosei Fujita, taiji ishimori, and SHO.

Tag team action will be heavily represented,with a critically important contest scheduled between United Empire – comprised of Callum Newman,Great-O-Khan,HENARE,andrade El Idolo,and a currently unannounced wrestler – and the combined forces of War Dogs and thier allies,including David Finlay,gabe Kidd,Drilla Moloney,Shingo Takagi,and Hiromu Takahashi.

Adding to the complexity,the never Openweight champions will participate in a unique “gauntlet” match known as Tornado Ranbo. The team of YOH, Master Wato, and Toru Yano will face a series of challenges from teams including Kaisei Takechi, Shota Umino, and Yuya Uemura; Satoshi Kojima, Taichi, and Tomohiro Ishii; Oleg Boltin, YOSHI-HASHI, and Hirooki Goto; TMDK (Hartley Jackson, Zack Saber Jr., and Ryohei Oiwa); Ryusuke Taguchi, Togi Makabe, and Tiger mask; Clark Connors, OSKAR, and Yuto-Ice; and House of Torture (Ren Narita, SANADA, and Yoshinobu Kanemaru).

Pre-Show Bout Sets the Stage

The action will begin before the main card with a pre-show match featuring El Phantasmo, the TV Champion, against Chris Brookes. This contest is expected to provide an energetic start to the evening.
