At least since the election and appointment of Olaf Scholz as the new Federal Chancellor, the search for a double for the 63-year-old has been in full swing – and it turns out to be more difficult than expected.
“Nobody answers. That’s unbelievable, ”says Jochen Florstedt, doppelganger agent from Mülheim an der Ruhr.
The 71-year-old, who has been wearing glasses and glued-on sideburns as a double for Jake from the “Blues Brothers” for around 30 years, has been mediating doppelgangers for film, television and companies with his agency since 1998. He has been looking for a “twin” from Olaf Scholz for more than three years!
Not only the new Federal Chancellor is in demand, but the entire new Federal Government.
In addition to Scholz, especially Robert Habeck (52) and Annalena Baerbock (40), but also Karl Lauterbach (58) and Christian Lindner (42).
He has several other well-known politicians on offer, says Florstedt, including the busy and somewhat exhausted Merkel doppelganger Ursula Wanecki and a Barack Obama double.
Florstedt is certain that there are thousands of people who look like Olaf Scholz or Annalena Baerbock. But that alone is usually not enough. Often, friends or family would have to point out the similarities to people and dare to apply.
What does a lookalike have to bring with it? “The external appearance of a double has to match the original,” says Jochen Florstedt. In addition to age, size, figure and hair color, head shape and face are the most important characteristics. Eyes, lips, nose – everything has to be right. “I am very, very critical. I only use the best, ”is how Florstedt describes his selection process. “Out of 100 applications I can knock 90 in the bin.”
When asked why nobody had contacted me so far, Florstedt answered in an interview with the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”: “I suspect many are afraid that they will be messed up on social media. Back then at Merkel it wasn’t that extreme. “
Florstedt’s doubles are booked primarily for commercials, satire shows and company events such as Christmas and company parties.
Depending on the event, a double earns EUR 800 to EUR 2,000 per appearance. “That is sometimes very, very different.” Whether that will still be something with a Scholz double, now that the politician is Chancellor? “I’m not giving up hope,” assures Florstedt.
