The Disciplinary Committee of the Normalization Authority of the Iraqi Football Federation explained the reasons for lifting the penalty against police team player Alaa Mahawi.

The committee stated in a statement to the authority received by the (INA), that “the decision to lift the punishment for the police team player (Alaa Mahawi) is a separate decision from the first decision, which stipulated that he be deprived of three matches and paid a fine of two million dinars.”
She added, “Article (133) stipulates that the discipline has the right to review decisions, and the committee also has the right to stop the implementation of penalties according to Article (34), especially penalties that are less than five matches, provided that the player is placed under supervision by the judicial committees, and in If the violation is repeated, the penalty will be resumed, with other penalties imposed according to the violation.”
The committee stated that the special penalties in the disciplinary regulations are special decisions and have nothing to do with the Code of Criminal Procedure, and because these penalties are corrective for the violating players and clubs, and are not punitive or retaliatory, not to mention the player’s commitment to the committee’s first decision and his respect for the decision, in addition to paying the amount of the fine and submitting it. To appeal, the Disciplinary Committee has the right to review its decision and issue a decision to suspend the implementation of the penalty.
The committee indicated that this decision is not the first of its kind this season, as on January 19, 2021, the implementation of the punishment of one of the first division coaches was suspended.
