Normandy: a swimmer found drowned off the coast of the Channel

A swim that turns to tragedy. According to information collected by Paris Normandie, the body of a man was found in the English Channel on Monday, off the coast of Gouville-sur-Mer (Manche). According to the maritime prefecture of the Channel and the North Sea, the swimmer had been wanted since Sunday.

Two Civil Security vehicles from La Manche, a semi-rigid sea rescuer as well as two Sdis vehicles and a gendarmerie patrol took part in the search until late at night from Sunday to Monday.

This Monday morning, the search resumed off the coast of Gouville-sur-Mer. A motorized patrol from the departmental fire and rescue service circulated along the sea line, supported by a patrol from the national gendarmerie. It was finally the Civil Security “Dragon 50” helicopter that spotted the lifeless body at sea and thus proceeded to recover it.

At the same time, a request for help was dispatched to the area. Despite their efforts, the victim could not be resuscitated and was declared dead by the medical team on site.
