North Korea commented on the impeachment of South Korean President Yoon Seok-yul, and the events taking place in its southern neighbor.
The Korean Central News Agency reported, “In South Korea, an unprecedented isolation process took place after the martial law incident on December 3, and an arrest warrant was issued for the president, paralyzing state affairs and increasing social and political chaos.”
North Korea’s official news agency detailed major political and social developments in South Korea following the impeachment, including the removal of interim President and Prime Minister Han Duk-soo, immediate implementation of law enforcement agencies on Yoon’s arrest warrant, as well as the message he sent to his supporters.
“Foreign media criticized that South Korea was plunged deeper into a political storm,” the agency noted.
North Korea’s official media published its first report on Yoon’s impeachment on December 16, two days after it happened, but has remained silent on the issue ever since.
