North York Dentist Faces Sexual Assault Charges Following Police Investigation

A North York dentist has been arrested and charged with sexual assault following allegations involving two patients, Toronto police announced on December 4, 2025. Authorities believe additional victims may exist and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Police initiated an investigation last month after receiving reports of alleged incidents occurring at the Smiles on Steeles dental clinic. The accused, a 61-year-old man from Toronto, is facing two counts of sexual assault.

Details of the Allegations

The first incident allegedly took place on November 17, involving a 34-year-old woman who was receiving dental treatment. Three days later, on November 20, a 29-year-old woman reported a similar incident while also at the clinic. According to the police release, both alleged assaults occurred during patient appointments.

The dentist was taken into custody on November 23 and formally charged. He is currently scheduled to appear in court on January 6, 2026.

Restrictions Imposed by Dental College

Following his arrest, the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario has placed specific conditions on the dentist’s practice. These conditions, as outlined on the College’s website, prohibit him from having any contact with the alleged victims. Furthermore, he is restricted from being alone with any female patient during treatment.

“These conditions are in place to ensure the safety and well-being of patients while the legal proceedings are underway,” a spokesperson for the Royal College stated.

Police Appeal for Information

Investigators are actively seeking information regarding potential additional victims. Anyone with relevant knowledge is encouraged to contact the Toronto Police Service directly or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.

The dentist, originally from Ecuador, has not yet publicly commented on the allegations. The investigation remains ongoing as police attempt to determine the full scope of the alleged misconduct.
