The Norwegian duo defeated the Spanish pair Pablo Herrera and Adrian Gavira 21-16, 21-17 in the sand in central Paris.
In the semifinals, they will face the German duo Clemens Wickler and Nils Ehlers, who defeated a Dutch pair in the quarterfinals. The semifinal will be played on Thursday at 6 PM.
Mol and Sørum started their quarterfinal match strongly, claiming control and winning the first set 21-16 in just 18 minutes.
The second set followed a similar pattern, with Mol and Sørum establishing a 9-5 advantage. The Spaniards managed to narrow the gap but were unable to overcome the Norwegians’ solid play.
This victory marks another impressive performance for Mol and Sørum, who have yet to drop a set in the Olympic tournament.
Three years ago at the Tokyo Olympics, the Norwegian pair defeated the Spanish veterans in the pool play and went on to claim gold.
After Mol sustained a fracture in his foot in March, their preparations for the Paris Olympics were disrupted. However, they appear to have regained their form at the right time.
Another Swedish duo, David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig, will also compete in the semifinals. They will face either Cherif Younousse/Ahmed Tijan from Qatar or Miles Partain/Andrew Benesh from the USA.
