Wise County Heads to the Polls Amidst Volleyball Victories and Community Events

Wise County residents are casting their ballots today, with a notable number of constitutional amendments on the line, alongside local elections impacting several school districts and emergency service districts. Voters will find 17 state constitutional amendment propositions on their ballots, with additional items for those in decatur, Boyd ISD, Paradise, Northwest ISD, and ESD No. 4.
Polling Locations and Details
To ensure a smooth voting process, residents are directed to the following consolidated polling locations:
- Precincts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 22: Decatur City Hall, 201 E. Walnut.
- Precincts 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 18, and 19: Assumption Catholic Church, 1305 S.Deer Park, Decatur.
- Precincts 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 28, and 29: Bridgeport Community Center, 1102 Lawdwin Ave.
- Precincts 20, 23, 24, 25, 27, and 30: Boyd Community Center, 420 E. Morton Ave.

Local Volleyball Teams Shine in Playoff Action
Beyond the polls, Wise County celebrated significant victories on the volleyball court. Decatur (38-7) dominated Stephenville in a 4A Division I area title match, securing a sweep with scores of 25-11, 25-15, and 25-18.Boyd (32-9) also advanced, sweeping Leonard in a 3AII area bout with scores of 25-22, 25-12, and 25-13. In a more closely contested match, Northwest (26-12) overcame El Paso Eastwood in a 6AII area showdown, winning 26-24, 25-19, 25-27, 19-25, and 15-12.
Paradise (28-13) will continue its playoff journey tonight, facing Blue Ridge in the second round of the 3A Division II playoffs at Sanger High School at 7 p.m. Additionally, VCA (26-6-2) will begin its TAPPS 2A postseason with an area battle against Alcuin School of Dallas at 6 p.m. at home.
Weatherford College Reconsiders Hospital Donation
In other news, Weatherford College has decided against accepting a donation of the former Doctor’s Hospital in Bridgeport from Medical City Healthcare. The college initially agreed to the donation earlier this summer, intending to utilize the facility as a teaching center for health science programs. However, after thorough evaluation, a senior official stated, “After significant due diligence, it was determined that the proposed generous gift of former hospital facility in bridgeport was not the right fit for Weatherford College Wise County.” The college expressed gratitude for the offer and anticipates a continued partnership with Medical City.
School Enrollment Numbers Released, UIL Realignment Looms
Local school districts submitted their enrollment numbers to the University Interscholastic League (UIL) last month, setting the stage for the upcoming realignment and reclassification of athletic and academic competitions.The UIL will release the new classifications and districts in January. Preliminary numbers show Decatur ISD with 9,872 students, Boyd ISD with 4,215, Paradise ISD with 1,688, Northwest ISD with 18,345, and VCA with 212.
