Teenager Charged in Alleged Sexual Assault of Elderly Woman in NSW Hunter Region

A 13-year-old boy is scheduled to appear in a children’s court today following his arrest and subsequent charges related to the alleged sexual assault of an elderly woman in the NSW Hunter region. The incident, which occurred Monday evening, has prompted a swift response from local authorities and raised concerns within the Ashtonfield community.

A senior official stated that the woman was walking in Brooklyn Park at Ashtonfield at approximately 7:20 p.m. when she was allegedly knocked to the ground by a male assailant who then attempted to sexually assault her. The suspect reportedly fled the scene on a push scooter, prompting the woman to contact a family member, who then alerted the police.

Following the report, an investigation was immediately launched by detectives from the NSW Police Force. The investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at a home in East Maitland at approximately 7:40 p.m. on Thursday.

During the search, a 13-year-old boy was apprehended and taken into custody at Maitland Police Station. He was subsequently charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexually touching without consent, and inciting another to sexually touch them without consent.

The teen was denied bail and is expected to appear before a children’s court today. The woman involved in the alleged assault was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment and support.
