Nubia Z50 Ultra has been launched with dedicated DSLR-like cameras

by time news

Nubia Z50 Ultra has been stealing the spotlight for the past few days. Now, it’s finally official – it’s the first non-gaming Nubia smartphone to come with an under-display selfie camera. Yes, Nubia is now drinking parent company ZTE’s formula. While most brands are comfortable with punch-hole cameras, ZTE continues to try to improve its under-display camera solution. The Nubia Z50 Ultra is the latest device to feature this technology, and it also packs a specially designed set of cameras on the back that can rival popular DSLR cameras.

Nubia Z50 Ultra specifications

Nubia Z50 Ultra has a 6.8 inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2480 x 1116 pixels. This monitor also has a refresh rate of 120Hz. The screen is flat but brings minimalistic bezels and a metal frame. Interestingly, Nubia is keeping track of OnePlus and Apple with an alert slider. The physical button can be set to mute notifications, launch game mode, or take instant photos. It is located on the same right side where we can find the volume rocker and the power button.

Nubia Z50 Ultra has a 64MP Sony IMX787 camera with a 35mm equivalent focal length. This impressive shooter can also be found on the Nubia Z50. The second shooter is also a 64MP camera with a periscope lens and an 85mm focal length. Finally, we have an ultra-fast 50MP snapper. It has auto focus and can also be used for macro shots. Finally, let’s move on to the selfie camera. One of the things that this device stands out for is the selfie snapper. It is the fourth generation of under-screen display technology dubbed Neovision. The sensor can take snapshots with a resolution of 16 megapixels. We know it can take pictures without any hassle, but the pictures still lag behind traditional cameras, especially when recording videos. We are curious to see what improvements have been made in the newer smartphone.

Under the hood, the Nubia Z50 Ultra packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. It starts with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage and expands up to 16GB and 1TB of storage. It should be noted that the entry level adheres to LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1 standards, while the latter has LPDDR5X and UFS 4.0 storage standards. The phone runs on Android 13 with MyOS 13 directly. The phone has a USB Type-C 3.1 port, Bluetooth 5.3, and tri-band GPS. It draws power from a 5000mAh battery with 80W fast charging support.

Pricing and options

Nubia Z50 Ultra is available in three distinct color options. We have the simpler gray and black color options, which have some red accents across the body. The third option is the fancier of the trio, and once again, brings the Starry Night name and style that Nubia loves. It is based on a Vincent Van Gogh painting. The latter option is only available in 12GB RAM / 512GB storage variants.

The Nubia Z50 Ultra will go on sale from March 14th. The base model retails for CNY 3,999 (US$580), but if you want the Starry Night color method, you’ll need to shell out CNY 4,999 (US$720).
