Nuno Venes will lead the Social Security Financial Management Institute

Noin the note sent to Lusa by the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security, we read that “Nuno Miguel Simões Venes has been appointed president of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Financial Management of Social Security, IP, with Pedro Nogueira Serrasqueiro vice-president ” and will begin on December 18th.

According to the guardianship, the positions of president and vice presidents of the Board of Directors of the IGFSS “were vacant following the termination of the service assignment and the exercise of the functions by its previous holders”, and it was therefore “necessary to proceed with the appointment of new members to ensure the normal functioning of this body until the conclusion of the relevant tender procedure”.

The Government has specified that Nuno Venes and Pedro Serrasqueiro will be appointed as replacements.

According to the same note, Nuno Venes was vice president of the IGFSS between 2012 and 2019, “having overseen the Budget and Social Security Account areas, as well as Administration and Infrastructure.”

Between 2015 and 2017, he “coordinated social security teams in three cooperation missions between the government of Portugal and the Ministry of Social Solidarity of Timor-Leste, which marked the genesis of that country’s social security system”, highlighted the protection.

Since April 2024 he has been head of the office of the Secretariat of State for Social Security, holds a doctorate in Economics and a master’s degree in Monetary and Financial Economics from ISEG/UTL, teaching as an Assistant Professor at the Universidade Lusíada since 1999 , in the areas of Macroeconomics, Public Finance, Data Analysis and Statistics”.

In turn, Pedro Nogueira Serrasqueiro “teaches in the area of ​​Statistics and Data Analysis at the Instituto Superior de Ciências do Trabalho e da Empresa, since 2017”, has a master’s degree in Finance and a doctorate in Management, with a specialization in Methods quantitative, of the Higher Institute of Labor and Economic Sciences. He has a degree in Management from the Faculty of Economics of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
