Ocarina of Time Remake Features Hall of Fallen Foes and Amiibo Support

Nintendo is expanding its upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time with a new Hall of Fallen Foes mode, physical ocarina support, and full compatibility with existing series amiibo ahead of its November 5 release.

When beloved art is revisited and revised, the familiar cry of nostalgia often follows players as they return to familiar ground. The title arrives exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026.

New Hall of Fallen Foes Mode and Gameplay Adjustments

Among the major additions revealed in the latest overview trailer is a dedicated game mode called the Hall of Fallen Foes. The video shows that players can visit a special room filled with statues of enemies they have defeated. Through these statues, players can learn more about the enemies, including where to find them, and utilize the mode to replay boss battles. This feature provides a way to revisit challenging encounters throughout the adventure.

Exploration and combat also benefit from modern quality-of-life adjustments. Players now move through the world with a free-moving camera, a dedicated jump button, and gyro-aiming. These changes make combat and exploration feel more immediate. Expanded dialogue gives the kingdom's inhabitants more depth, and the town square is now alive with activity, featuring new laneways to explore. The remake includes the initial Kokiri Forest sequence, Hyrule Field, and Castle Town, all reimagined for the modern console.

Players Use Physical Instruments or Microphones to Play Notes

Players can utilize physical ocarinas that work with the remake. For those playing without the accessory, Nintendo revealed that fans will be able to use the Switch 2 controllers’ microphone to hum notes into the game for the same effect. A digital version of the instrument is available for players to fiddle around with in the "Play Ocarina" section.

The remake also integrates with the Nintendo Switch app, offering a feature called “Zelda Notes.” This tool provides a detailed record of player accomplishments in chronological order, complete with screenshots. The app tracks various metrics, including:

  • How long players played that day and how far they traveled
  • How many enemies were killed and how many items were used
  • How long players visited specific areas of the game
  • How many times they died, how many hearts were lost, and how many rupees were earned
  • How much grass was cut

The app also features quizzes with over 2,000 questions to answer.

New Amiibo Figures Offer Various Retailer Bonuses

The new Young Link and Young Zelda figures will net players wearable masks for the characters.
