The HD-2D RPG “Octopath Traveler” developed by Square Enix and Acquire is currently removed from the Nintendo eShop in various countries.

According to speculation by foreign media, the reason is a change in the distribution rights. The distribution rights of “Wanderer” had been in the hands of Nintendo when it was launched, but they expired in December last year and the distribution rights needed to be returned to Square Enix.

It is not yet known when it will be re-released, but the change of distribution rights to SE also means that the first version of “Walker” may later cross over to other console platforms such as PS.

In addition, Acquire, one of the developers of “Wanderer”, was announced to be fully acquired by Kadokawa in February this year. Like From Software of “Elden Ring”, they are also affiliated with Kadokawa’s game development companies. In addition to being responsible for the main development of “Wanderer”, Acquire also has IPs such as “Tenchu”, “Samurai” and “Akihabara Journey”.
