NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 5,2026) – Residents near Old Hickory Lake will have two opportunities next week to weigh in on proposed changes to how the shoreline is managed,with public workshops scheduled for Mt. Juliet and gallatin, Tennessee.
Shoreline Management Plan Updates Under Review
Public input is being sought on proposed changes to the Old hickory Lake Shoreline management Plan.
“We want to ensure the public has ample prospect to provide input on the proposed changes to the shoreline management plan,” said Old Hickory Lake Resource Manager, Samantha Barlow.
Several specific changes are being considered. Thes include establishing a minimum frontage requirement for residential lots to qualify for a community dock slip within certain developments, and removing the approval of natural rock placement as a method for controlling shoreline erosion.
A draft copy of the Shoreline Management Plan is available for review on the USACE Digital Library at https://usace.contentdm.oclc.org/utils/getfile/collection/p16021coll7/id/28317. Copies will also be available at both workshops.
Those unable to attend the workshops can still provide feedback. Written comments and requests can be emailed to [email protected] or mailed to the Old hickory Lake Resource Manager’s Office at No. 5 Power Plant Road, Hendersonville, Tennessee 37075. All mailed submissions must be received by Friday, Feb.13,2026,to be considered.
