A standout week of scoring has earned Omaha guard Lance Waddles the Kwik Star Summit League Men’s Basketball Peak Performer of the Week award, announced Tuesday. This marks the first career weekly honor for the senior, who led the Mavericks to a pair of victories and a season-best four-game winning streak.
Waddles Dominates from Beyond the Arc
Waddles showcased his offensive prowess with back-to-back 25-point performances against York (Neb.) and Lamar, propelling Omaha’s record to 7-7 on the season. His performances were highlighted by exceptional three-point shooting, drilling a combined 12 shots from beyond the arc across the two games.
In a dominant 105-58 win over York, Waddles achieved a career-high, sinking seven three-pointers. He followed that up with five more in a hard-fought 85-82 overtime victory against Lamar on the road. Beyond his scoring, Waddles also contributed significantly on the boards, securing 13 rebounds across both contests.
“He’s really elevated his game,” a senior official stated. “His shooting has been phenomenal, and he’s impacting the game in multiple ways.”
Leading the Nation in Three-Pointers
Waddles’ recent surge in three-point shooting has propelled him to the top of the Division I leaderboard. With 52 three-pointers made this season, he currently leads all players in the nation. He is shooting 47.3 percent from beyond the arc on the campaign, demonstrating both volume and efficiency.
