During the last 7 days, 71 cases of coronavirus disease were recorded in Armenia, which is a decrease of 38 cases compared to the previous same period (109 cases).

This is reported by the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

“The share of positive test results in the last 7 days was 10.7%, while last week it was 15.6%.

At the moment, the rate of infection reproduction (calculated in 7 days) is Rt=0.82.

XBB are now circulating in Armenia. 1.5 (Kraken), XBB.2.3 (Acrux), XBB.1.16 (Arctura), XBB 1.9.1 (Hiperion), FL.1.5.1 (Fornax), EG.5.1 (Eris), as well as first detected Omicron variant BA.2.86 (Pirola) and its offshoot JN.1.

The BA.2.86 variant was first detected globally in August 2023. Studies are now underway to better understand its potential impact on public health.
