Kannur: KSEB took a bribe of Rs 1000 to replace the electric pole. The vigilance team chased the sub-engineer. KSEB Sub-engineer Geo M. of Azhikode section. Joseph (37) was arrested. A native of Ernakulam, he was arrested on the day he was transferred to his own district. The vigilance team arrived based on the complaint of Abdul Shukur, a native of Pootapara.
The complaint was that Jio demanded Rs.1000 to replace the electricity pole in front of the complainant’s house. An electric pole was an obstacle to build a car shed next to the house.
Even after paying 5550 rupees to the electricity office for its replacement, the matter did not proceed. Sub-engineer Abdul Shukur was informed that if he gave him Rs. Abdul Shukur informed the vigilance about this.
While returning home after receiving the money, Dy.S.P. A vigilante group led by Babu Peringeth surrounded him. While trying to escape, the vigilance chased him and caught him. It is suspected that he swallowed the money while running.
However, the note was smeared with phennaphthalene and the hand turned red. He refused to go to the hospital and undergo a medical examination. The accused was produced before the Kozhikode Vigilance Court Judge and remanded.
