Algonquin Regional High School to Stage “Once Upon a Mattress” Next Week

A family-amiable production of the classic fairytale retelling, “Once Upon a Mattress,” is set to grace the stage at Algonquin regional High School next week, offering a vibrant showcase of student talent and community involvement. Performances are scheduled from Thursday, November 20th through Saturday, November 22nd at 7:00 pm in the ARHS auditorium.
A whimsical Return to the Stage
The upcoming production marks the return of “Once Upon a Mattress,” a comedic adaptation of “The Princess and the Pea.” According to one keen observer, a former ARHS student, the school’s previous rendition was “highly enjoyed,” fueling anticipation for this year’s performance. The NSBORO music program newsletter describes the play as “filled with playful humor, clever wordplay, and lively songs,” promising “a lighthearted, laugh-out-loud adventure full of charm and heart.”

Student-Led Production Behind the Scenes
the aspiring production is a testament to the dedication of Algonquin students,with nearly 70 contributing both onstage and behind the scenes. Science teacher Brian Kelly directs the musical, while Fine and Performing Arts teacher Eric Vincent leads the musical direction, supported by vocal direction from olivia Goliger, also of the fine and Performing Arts department. Local dance instructor Denise Day has choreographed the production. The entire tech and stage crew is comprised of students, demonstrating a comprehensive learning experience.

The Northborough Southborough Music Association (NSMA) is leveraging the popularity of the fall musical to support the program through the sale of Candygrams.
