An online event entitled “112: European Emergency Number” is organized by Europe Direct Attica – Praxi Network, Municipality of Piraeus, Epirus & Peloponnese, on the occasion of the European Day for “112”, as set for February 11.

The event will take place on Monday, February 12, at 6 pm. Registration at the link cq4l.short.gy/112. Certificates of participation will be provided electronically and upon request.
The importance of the European emergency number “112” is twofold, since it not only allows citizens to be informed immediately, but at the same time acts as a connecting link between citizens who need urgent help wherever they are and the country’s emergency response services us. The equal access of all, without exception, to timely and valid information, but also to self-protection instructions against risks and natural disasters is a priority.
The topics to be discussed at the event will focus on the necessity and promotion of the existence and use of Europe’s single emergency number, the implementation of “112” in our country, its effectiveness, etc.
“112” is an extremely useful tool for the Civil Protection that works every day, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, to alert/inform, prevent and prepare citizens for possible risks from severe weather phenomena, natural or technological disasters and emergencies that threaten human life. The challenges arising from the new reality of the climate crisis are becoming more and more frequent, more and more intense, affecting every aspect of our daily lives and increasing the effectiveness of the Civil Protection Mechanism.
Special mention will be made of the connection of “112” with the National SOS Telephone Line “1056”, to deal with phenomena of violence faced by children (physical, sexual & psychological abuse, neglect, bullying, illegal trafficking & trafficking).
