Iran’s sports minister has ordered an investigation into the rape of minors at a football school in the northeast of the country, an official source said on Saturday.
«A former media manager for the Shahr Khodro football team has claimed on social media that the parents of 15 players from this club and his school filed a complaint against the club and its coaches for sexual assault on their children“, indicated the agency Irna.
FC Shahr Khordo is located in Mashhad, Iran’s main holy city and the country’s second largest city.
«Sports Minister Hamid Sadjadi ordered an investigation two weeks ago following reports of rape at a teenage football school in Mashhad“, added the same source, calling to show”firmnessagainst those who may be responsible for these facts.
On Friday, Shahrara newspaper, publication of Mashhad Municipality, announced that “families of playersof the club had gathered in front of the headquarters of the provincial football organization toprotest against this tragedy».
Since there was no follow-up after the gathering, the families were forced to publicize the case through the media, the daily added.
In 2017, an official of the Iranian Football Federation’s ethics committee caused controversy in the country after revealing the attack on “more than ten teenage members of a local team».
