Oppenheimer ***

de Christopher Nolan

American film, 3:01

After DunkirkChristopher Nolan continues with Oppenheimer exploring the moral issues of World War II. This three-hour film – without us feeling them pass despite an intrusive musical tape – recounts, over three different temporalities, the parliamentary hearing of the scientist’s former boss, Lewis Strauss, in 1959, the creation in a desert of the New Mexico of the first atomic bomb, then the fall in 1954 of Oppenheimer, whose commitment to the left in the interwar period is singled out at the time of McCarthyism.

The excellent Cillian Murphy interprets the main role of this fascinating dive into the adventure of this modern Prometheus.

The Packs **

of Kamal Lazraq

Franco-Moroccan film, 1 h 34

In the poor neighborhoods of Casablanca, dog fights are raging, around which money, rivalry and affection for animals mingle. When his dog is killed, Dib, the master of the place, instructs Hassan and his son to kidnap a man in retaliation, a kidnapping that goes wrong…

In a nocturnal image with assumed grain, The Packs combines contrasting atmospheres: the sticky nightmare of an ultra-violent underworld and the tense face-to-face of a father and his son, the absurdity of a thwarted macabre quest.

under the carpet is a nice film that alternates gravity and comedy with fluidity and elegance, despite a somewhat heavy production.
