OPS appeals in Supreme Court against AIADMK general committee decision

OPS will appeal in the Supreme Court on Monday against the two-judge bench verdict of the Madras High Court that the AIADMK general committee meeting will be held.

Judge Jayachandran of the Madras High Court heard the petitions filed by coordinator O. Panneerselvam and general committee member Vairamuthu against the AIADMK general committee meeting and said, ‘The AIADMK general committee meeting held in Chennai on July 11 is null and void. On August 17, he ruled that the situation in AIADMK should continue as it was before June 23.

An appeal was filed in the Madras High Court on behalf of Edappadi Palaniswami against the judgment of the single judge.

The bench of Justices M. Duraisamy and Sund Mohan has decided in this case yesterday. Accordingly, the judgment given by the single judge Jayachandran will be canceled and the AIADMK general committee meeting held on July 11 will go ahead. An order to hold meetings jointly by both is impracticable. The Single Judge ruled that the judgment is set aside.

While the judgment given by the two-judge bench was viewed against the judgment given by the single judge, an appeal will be filed in the Supreme Court on Monday (September 5) on behalf of O. Panneerselvam.

It is also said that if the positions of AIADMK coordinator and co-coordinator have not expired, how will the meeting of the general body proceed?

Meanwhile, advocate Balaji Srinivasan has filed a caveat petition in the Supreme Court on behalf of Edappadi Palaniswami. In it, it is stated that while filing appeal petitions in this matter, no order should be issued without hearing their side’s opinion.
