Los Angeles: The much-awaited Oscar Awards for film lovers begin. Ariya Debos is the Best Supporting Actress for her role in West Side Story. ‘Dune’ is ahead with four awards, including Best Editing, Original Score and Best Cinematography. Dune also won the award for Best Production Design. The Eyes of Tommy Fay won the Oscar for makeup and hairstyle.
The announcement of the award started in the morning Indian time. This year’s Oscars are marked by a number of innovations. The biggest difference is that there can be more than one presenter. Presented by Regina Hall, Amy Scoomer and Wanda Sykes. For the first time since 2011, there will be three presenters. The documentary ‘Writing with Fire’ produced by Sushmit Ghosh and a Delhi Malayalee named Rintu Thomas has also been included in the nomination this time.

‘The Power of the Dog’, directed by Jane Campion, leads the competition with 12 nominations. Jane Campion became the first woman to receive two nominations for Best Director. Denzel Washington has become the most frequently nominated black actor for his performance in ‘The Tragedy of Macbeth’. He received his tenth nomination.

Kristen Dunst and Jesse Plemons, who starred as husband and wife in ‘The Power of the Dog’, are also considered to be husband and wife in life. Troy Kotser became the first deaf actor to receive an Oscar nomination for his role in the movie ‘Coda’. Marley Matt Lean, who plays his wife, is also the first Oscar-winning deaf actress. Coda’s feature is that all the main characters are played by deaf people.
Belfast and West Side Story received 7 suggestions each. Competing in the foreign film category, adapted screenplay category and direction, the Japanese film Drive My Car was also shortlisted for Best Picture. Other films include Coda, Don’t Look Up, King Richard, Licorice Pizza and Nightmare Ali.
