Kochi: Theater owners’ association Fiok Rangath has demanded an end to the theatrical screenings of films released on ODT. The move comes after Dulquer Salman starrer Kurup was released on Netflix. The theatrical screening of Mohanlal’s Maraikkar is coming to an end on the 17th.

Kurup is a film that is currently doing well. Fiok also expressed his displeasure that the film, which was running like that, had turned into an ODT. In the wake of this, Fiok has decided to end the screening of OTT release films in theaters. All theater owners under Fiok have been instructed in this regard. Maraikkar will be released on Amazon Prime tomorrow. Therefore, the theater owners have decided to end the car show of Maraikar tomorrow as well. Fiok claims that with the release of the film on OTD, the audience will not be able to reach the theater and this will lead to heavy losses. Based on this, the theater owners have been instructed.

Mohanlal, Antony Perumbavoor and Priyadarshan’s Maraikkar: The Lion of the Arabian Sea was released on December 2. The film received mixed reviews. Dulquar, directed by Srinath Rajendran, was released in theaters on November 12. Within weeks of its release, the film broke box office records.
