Kumarakom: Pulikkiyil Vasavan (76), the hero and fisherman of ‘Ottal’, which won many awards at the Kerala International Film Festival, has passed away. He was admitted to Kottayam Medical College Hospital on Wednesday morning after he collapsed at home. It ended yesterday afternoon. Vasavan played the lead role of a duck farmer in Jayaraj’s ‘Ottal’. Vasavan also received a special mention from the jury at the International Film Festival for his performance. Ottal is a tool traditionally used for fishing.

Vasavan Pampadi Sundaran, who worked as an elephant father at a young age, has become the second father of Kompananas like Palapparambu Brahmadathan and Chandrasekharan.
