Ouagadougou: a local reforestation association chooses in Pazani
Ouagadougou, August 22, 2024 (AIB) – The association of Citizen Action for Indigenous Development (ACDE) planted around fifty trees on Thursday before concessions it identified in the Pazani area of Ouagadougou.
As part of its action called “My green city”, the Citizen Action Association for Indigenous Development (ACDE) planted 50 feet of trees in front of a concession it identified in the Pazani area, in district 9 of the city of Ouagadougou.
According to the association’s president, Abdoudramane Sawadogo, the “My green city” initiative, supported by ACDE, aims to put at least one tree in front of the door of every concession in the towns of Burkina Faso.
“It is quite difficult to maintain trees planted in large spaces. Despite the numerous reforestation campaigns, the results are not so visible,” announced the president of the ACDE association.
Based on this opinion, Mr. Sawadogo continued, our association chose local reforestation, that is to say that it is done in front of houses to green Burkina Faso.
Concretely, “We talk to interested people who choose the tree, then we give them a tree maintenance grid before they proceed to the actual planting,” explained Mr. Sawadogo.
Citizen Actions for Indigenous Development is an association created in 2023 that aims to promote indigenous development, according to the organization’s president.
For this first edition, only the mango and neem tree were selected as tree species for reforestation in the unique area of Pazani.
The organizers plan, during the next editions, to plant as many species as possible in all the cities of the country.
