Oujda-Angad: More than 21,000 qx of subsidized fertilizers made available to farmers

by times news cr

The distribution operation of subsidized nitrogen fertilizers kicked off last week, with rates varying‌ depending on land type. Farmers ‍with irrigated land ⁢receive three qx/ha, while those ⁣with bour land receive 1.5 q/ha.

“The subsidy for ⁢nitrogen fertilizers‍ has‍ been set at 50% of the⁣ market price,” ⁣said Fouad Zahiri, head of the project execution department at the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture (DPA) in Oujda. “The price of nitrogen ammonium nitrate 33%, urea 46%,‍ and ammonium sulfate 21% are 240 ‌DH/q, 330 DH/q, and 150 DH/q, respectively.”

To ensure a smooth distribution process, human and⁤ logistical resources ⁤have been mobilized at local and regional levels, with the process monitored from the Labsara liaison center. These subsidies are expected to positively impact crop production costs, particularly market gardening, and maintain productivity⁢ and yield in Oujda-Angad.

Ali Largou, ⁢inspector at the ‌National Office for Food ⁢Safety (ONSSA) of the Oriental region, emphasized⁤ that the Office conducts verification of labeling, weight, and sample collection to ensure the composition and percentage of fertilized materials.

Beneficiary farmers expressed their appreciation for this initiative, which will reduce the costs of agricultural inputs and positively impact production.

Additionally, an exceptional‍ program has been developed by⁢ the DPA of Oujda ⁢to mitigate the impact of the ⁣rainfall deficit. This program focuses on four main axes: subsidized nitrogen⁢ fertilizers, distribution of subsidized barley, compound⁤ feed, and seeds specifically selected for market gardening production, with emphasis on key vegetables ⁢(tomato, onion, potato).
