A total of 61,441,882 voters will be able to vote in the local elections in Turkey on March 31, Milliet reports.

1,032,610 young people will vote for the first time.

The candidates of 34 political parties will take part in the elections, and over 206,000 polling stations will be opened in the country.

Mayors of 81 district centers, as well as 973 smaller cities and over 50 thousand mayors of municipalities will be elected, BTA reported.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will vote at Istanbul’s Saffet Cebi school as usual. He is expected to stay in Istanbul until the evening hours and then leave for the capital Ankara.

The chairman of the Nationalist Action Party (PND, which is an ally of the ruling party), Devlet Bahceli, will vote at Anattepe School in Ankara.

The chairman of the main opposition People’s Republican Party (NRP), Özgür Özel, will vote at a school in his hometown of Manisa. He is expected to monitor the election results at the NRP headquarters in Ankara.

Good Party leader Meral Aksener is expected to vote at Bilkent School in Ankara.

The current mayor of Istanbul and again a candidate for the post of NRP Ekrem Imamoglu will exercise his right to vote at the Emin Yukseloglu Girls’ School in Beylikdüzü district.

Murat Kurum, AKP candidate for mayor of Istanbul, will vote at IMECE school in Kyaguthane district.

Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavash, again a candidate for mayor of the NRP capital, will vote at the Yumitkoy Religious School in Ankara’s central Çankaya district.

AKP candidate for mayor of Ankara, Turgut Altnok, will vote at the Kojatepe school in Ankara, Milliet informs.
