by Sofia Alvarez Entertainment Editor

Overland Park’s comedy scene is back in business. Clint’s Comedy Club, a local favorite, recently reopened its doors after a roughly five-year hiatus brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Laughs Return to Rosana Square

The Overland Park comedy club, formerly known as Clint’s Comedy Stop, is once again hosting live shows with a mix of improv, open mics, and professional comedians.

  • The venue has a capacity of approximately 75 guests, creating an intimate atmosphere.

The club, now simply called Clint’s Comedy Club, quietly began welcoming audiences back with a familiar goal: to deliver consistent laughs. Owner Clint Warren expressed hope that the revamped space retains the same comedic spirit that drew crowds before the pandemic. The club is located at 7332 W. 119th st. in Overland Park.

What kind of comedy can you expect at Clint’s Comedy Club? The lineup varies, featuring both up-and-coming and established comedians. Friday nights are dedicated to improv shows and open mic nights, offering a platform for local talent. Saturday nights bring in professional comics, with upcoming headliners including Jamie Campbell, the duo Phil Morris and Jennifer Gable, and Elliott Threatt.

A Neighborhood Hub for Comedy

Clint’s Comedy Club is situated on the east side of the Rosana Square shopping center, near the intersection of 119th Street and blue Valley Parkway. It’s conveniently located near other local businesses, including the live music venue Guitars and Cadillacs and the Indian restaurant Aahaa Modern Indian Cuisine. Shows generally run from 7 to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Warren, a standup comedian himself, emphasized the intimate setting of the club, which holds roughly 75 guests. He believes this smaller size fosters a closer connection between performers and the audience. “The show starts when people come through the door,” Warren said. “It’s not like you’re sitting around waiting for the famous guy to come up.We’re having fun right at the beginning.”

Warren initially opened the comedy club, then called Clint’s Comedy Stop, approximately seven years ago. He admitted he wasn’t certain he’d be able to revive the business after the pandemic closures. Though, the enthusiastic response from returning patrons has been encouraging. “There are new people, definitely, but there are a critically important amount of people who came before, who came in and said, ‘Hey, I’m glad you’re back,'” Warren said.
