Soft, plump cheeks and wrinkle-free foreheads are the characteristics of people who love bottox and fillers. A new look, however, is starting to become a favorite of Hollywood stars who want to go on a diet and it goes by the name “the face of Ozempic”.
Celebrities like the actor John Goodman, Vocalist Robbie WilliamsOzzy Osbourne’s 71-year-old wife, Sharon, and Jessica Simpson are some celebrities who have achieved this face which is characterized by “sunken” eyes, thin cheeks and sagging skin!
We remind you that ozempic is an injectable drug that contains the substance semaglutide, which prompts the body to produce more insulin and is therefore used in type 2 diabetes. This substance has been approved and is widely used in America as a drug and for the treatment of obesity.
In the last three months of 2022, more than nine million prescriptions were written for Ozempic as the drug takes the US by storm.
“The face of Ozempic is essentially the same features we see when patients experience rapid or regular weight loss. We see a loss of volume in the face and when we lose fat in the face we see signs like the cheeks are more sunken, the skin is more droopy and there is a general hollowing of the features. Sometimes this can make the person actually look older – because the fat in our cheeks is what gives us a more youthful appearance,” said Dr Smita Ramanadham, a plastic surgeon in New Jersey according to the Daily Mail.
Dr. Sue Decotiis, a weight loss expert who has prescribed Ozempic to thousands of patients, added that weight loss is more dramatic in those with longer faces because of the way the skin stretches.
Goodman and Osborne at the top of Ozempic
At the top of the list of celebrities whose face has changed drastically is actor John Goodman. The 71-year-old has lost 200 pounds in more than a decade, which he attributes to eating smaller portions, walking his dogs daily, and cutting sugar and alcohol out of his diet. Although he has not admitted to using Ozempic, pictures of him at a New York airport this month showed him looking very thin.
The 71-year-old figure is among female celebrities Sharon Osbourne who revealed that she lost 42 pounds on Ozempic and then “couldn’t stop losing weight.”
“When you look at the before photo, her face is much fuller and has more volume.
But when I look at the later photo, her eyes, her face, are more sunken, her cheeks aren’t as full. Her face looks like she is starving,” said Dr Smita Ramanadham.
