Barbados has announced its intention to recognize the so-called “Palestinian state”. The Caribbean country’s Foreign Minister Kerry Simmonds noted that this decision is consistent with the two-state principle and is aimed at resolving the Middle East crisis.

TRT World writes about this.

Simmonds also admitted that Barbados had not previously made a similar decision and criticized the country’s authorities for this mistake, emphasizing that the time had come to correct it.

However, he clarified that recognition of the PA should not affect Barbados’ friendly relations with Israel. Barbados, a country of about 300,000 people, is known for its historical ties to Britain and an economy based on sugar cane and tourism.

Chairman of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas expressed gratitude to the countries that supported the draft resolution on the admission of the PA to the United Nations. He also condemned the US decision to use the veto power on Security Council votes, calling it “disappointing” and “irresponsible.”

Abbas expressed concern about the ongoing “genocide of Palestinian Arabs” and announced his intention to reconsider bilateral relations with the United States. Such actions, in his opinion, could lead to further instability in the region and increased terrorism.

Earlier, Kursor wrote that China criticized the United States for blocking the resolution recognizing the PA.
